‘‘A whole World Living on the UK’s Most Decorated Street’’ - Tash Frootko's Vision Transforms High Street Tredworth

The once-unassuming High Street in Tredworth, Gloucester has undergone a spectacular transformation, blossoming into a vibrant canvas and the cities most decoratecd street. This metamorphosis pays homage to the diverse voices and cultures converging in the area, celebrating art, culture, and community through an explosion of colour and creativity.

 Frootko says "This is by far my biggest project to date. I wanted to make the High Street in Tredworth feel like a huge outdoor art gallery to reflect the community and its fascinating history and to make it the UKs most decorated street," Frootko explains. "Dream big, inspire others, and make the city look incredible after years of it looking unloved."

The four-month project has been a monumental team effort, involving painters, artists, local schools, workshops, and residents of all ages. Frootko emphasizes the inclusivity of her projects, noting that art has united the community across various demographics and backgrounds." ... Frootko shares. "I create unique relationships with the streets I adopt and transform. It's magical to speak to every person living there and all the people who come to visit."

The project saw over 60 buildings transformed with colour along the 0.3-mile stretch. High Street Tredworth now features murals by local, national, and international artists (Find out more about the artists here)., reinstated ghost signs, and a community garden. Frootko's trademark colourful houses connect these artworks, creating a cohesive visual delight that immerses visitors in colour and creativity.

Frootko says '' High Street Tredworth is a shining example of multiculturalism, with 47 nationalities among its residents, we have the whole world living on one street. The street is a microcosm of global culture, and I hope that this mass scale project has brought this to life, making the area a beacon of unity and artistic expression.'

This project, funded by Arts Council England, Gloucestershire County Councils Levelling Up Together scheme, Speedy Hire, and Frootko's own financial contributions, has garnered international recognition. High Street Tredworth stands as a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together through art.

Jo Francis Lived in Tredworth for 40 years remarks, "This place is looking like somewhere you want to live. The street has a new identity"

Linden Dennis from The Black Elders Day centre of Gloucester group says, ""The transformation here is incredible. It’s not just about the art; it’s about being part of a vibrant community. The artworks, along with the motto 'Out of Many, One People,' truly reflect this."

Fatima Dadabhoy High Street, Tredworth resident for 20 years adds, "This is the best thing to have happened to our street. Tash brings inspiration and hope. Her passion for uplifting areas with colour is contagious and the result is sensational. I feel so proud to say that I live on the most beautiful street in Gloucester''

Sajid Patel  local city and county councillor, praises Frootko's work, saying, "It's more than impressive what Tash has done to lift the look of the street. We are lucky to have this individual making mass-scale changes to the built environment."

Vern Cameron from Vern’s Auto Parts . High Street Shopkeeper for 35 years. comments, "The colours have made a major difference. and bought a new energy to the street. It’s a joy to come to work and you cant miss my shop when you drive down the road now. It really stands out. ‘‘

Sara a 10-year-old High Street resident whose house was painted, says, "The colours make our street look happy and exciting. I love living within a magical giant rainbow."
