Rainbow Street 2020

Tash Frootko's transformative work on St Mark Street , aptly nicknamed "The Rainbow Street," not only added a splash of vibrant colours to the neighbourhood but also united the transient community and addressed a large fly-tipping issue.

Starting with the success of the Nettleton road transformation, Tash's vision expanded to encompass a much larger canvas. By adorning 40 out of the 52 Victorian terraced houses along St Mark Street, she turned what was once an ordinary thoroughfare into a breathtaking kaleidoscope of colours. The impact was immediate and profound. "The Rainbow Street" quickly became a beloved landmark, drawing both locals and tourists alike. Its fame spread through word of mouth and extensive media coverage, including appearances on TV and inspiring filmmakers.

What made Tash's project particularly special was its ability to bring people together. By involving the community in the transformation process, she not only beautified the area but also fostered a sense of unity among residents. Furthermore, her efforts to address the fly-tipping issue demonstrated a commitment to improving the neighborhood beyond its aesthetic appeal. "The Rainbow Street" stands as a testament to the transformative power of colour.
